1. Wash your hands to prevent bacteria from infecting the skin. 2. Practice hygiene. 3. Use antibacterial soap for bathing. 4. Keep your towels, clothes, etc. clean 5. Never squeeze a boil otherwise, it may cause pain and spread the infection.

1. Apply warm compresses and soak the boil in warm water. This will decrease the pain and help draw the pus to the surface. 2. When the boil starts draining, wash it with an antibacterial soap until all the pus is gone 3. Do not pop the boil with a needle.

Boils themselves are not contagious, but the bacteria that cause boils are. Until it drains and heals, an active skin boil is contagious. The infection can spread to other parts of the person's body or to other people through skin to skin contact or the sharing of personal items.
